101 Teacher Training - Week 3

Welcome to Week 3. We’re more than halfway through this first month, focusing on good-better-best setups.

For homework, you know the drill: review the work from the October 2021 Self-Tape 101 students. Be picky with the audio, and help them tweak their lighting. (If it’s off, they most likely need to move their eyeline toward the camera and add a fill.) They should have their framing down and be much more consistent with file size, file name and file type. Really get on them if they are not following direction.

This is also the week they can turn in more than one take. Make sure the two takes are different. Are they finding the two natural places the script can go? Mysterious and friendly? Get them to start looking at the description to find clues.

Any questions? If so email me at scott@talktothecamera.com or call me at 310-499-8037. Let’s get started on your homework.

  1. Click on this LINK to see the week 3 self tapes from our students. This week there are four X-Factor students, including Cameron. The other three have issues that go a bit outside of what we discuss in class, so see if you can see what it is.

  2. Get your blank Excel and Word documents to do your evaluations and your cheat-sheets to use as you need.
